On Sunday May 7th Old Chatham Foxhounds and handlers headed out bright and early to Warwick NY where the 2023 NY/NJ Regional Puppy show was being hosted by Windy Hollow Hunt. We could not have asked for better weather or a more beautiful setting for the show. Our hounds and handlers performed beautifully in stiff competition against Genesee Valley, Millbrook, Rombout, and Windy Hollow. In the Unentered Dog class Old Chatham Jorah won 1st place against his brothers and then went on to win Champion Unentered Dog! Moving on to the Unentered Bitch class, Old Chatham Judi placed 1st against her sister and then won Reserve Champion for Unentered Bitch! After the bitches it was boys against girls in the Unentered Hound class where Old Chatham Jorah once again stood out and won Champion Unentered Hound!!! Exciting to have two siblings place so well. The excitement continued as Old Chatham Jorah went on to win Reserve Champion of the NY ring! We had other hounds do quite well in their classes, Old Chatham Hades and Old Chatham Hercules were strong contenders in the Entered Dog class, Hades coming in at a respectable 2nd place. All three of our top placing hounds were handled by our very own kennelman Ellie Blass!! All our junior handlers did a fantastic job when it was finally time for the Jr Handler classes. Our kids practiced for more than 8 weeks before the show, twice a week handling their chosen hound and putting in a lot of time and effort into perfecting their handling! It paid off with all our Juniors performing to the best of their abilities and some good placements, with many other Jr competitors in both classes! At the end of the day the ribbons were nice but the real Win was seeing our happy hounds and handlers enjoying the environment and experience!
