Introducing new riders and horses to foxhunting can be a bit tricky – the noises and pace can be a bit too exciting for some. It is important for all involved to take it slow. We’re extremely fortunate because the Old Chatham Hunt Club has both a fox hound and a beagle pack.

Photos are from a late September Beagling meet in which several of our junior riders rode along in a mock-foxhunt. Riders and ponies were able to practice the formalities of hunting, experience an exciting hunt and spend a few hours working on the horse and rider bond that is very important for the trust and safety of all involved.
