Millbrook Hunt’s Unentered hound wins Best in Show, Windy Hollow’s Riley runner-up

The New York District Puppy Show hosted by the Old Chatham Hunt at Valley View Farm on May 19th dawned with cloudy skies that upon the start opened into a steady rain, temperatures hovered in the low 50’s. Under tents, judges: the esteemed and venerable, Hugh Robards, retired huntsman of Middleburg Hunt, VA, and the genial, Andrew Marren, huntsman and neighbor to the north, Montreal Hunt, began sorting and placing the Unentered Hounds offered by the participating New York hunts: Goldens Bridge (GBH), Millbrook (MH), Rombout (RH), Windy Hollow (WHH) and hosts, Old Chatham (OCH). Top puppies were Champion and Best in Show, Millbrook Hunt’s bitch, Galaxy with reserve going to Windy Hollow Hunt’s dog, Riley.

Millbrook Hunt’s entries for Entered Hound of 2017, dog and bitch classes, took home the top honors with Champion, bitch, MH Trophy and Reserve, dog, MH Profit. Top of the Stallion class was Golden’s Bridge’s Smurf, 2015 and top Brood Bitch went to Windy Hollow Hunt’s Brenna, 2011. GBH Smurf came out with his get, Capsize and Chanel, to win the Family class.  Top Junior handlers, under 11, Hunter Sharpe OCH; 11 to 18 in a large, competitive group was GBH’s Willow Bennett.
